Brick police said Wednesday that they are continuing to investigate the case of a pizza deliveryman who was reported stabbed while in the Maple Leaf Park condominium development over the weekend.

According to Sgt. Neal Pedersen, on Saturday night at 11:13 p.m., police were called to Creek Road, off Sawmill Road, where they found the 21-year-old man who had been stabbed with a sharp object on his left side.

The man stated told police that he returned to his vehicle after delivering a pizza when he was approached by who he described as three black males in their mid-to-late teens wearing dark clothing.  The men demanded money and, when he refused, one of the suspects stabbed him with an unknown sharp object, Pedersen said.

The suspects then fled without any proceeds from the robbery attempt, according to police.

The victim then went to a resident’s house where he contacted the police.

Police units along with Brick Police EMS helped treat the victim, whose wounds were not life threatening. He was transported to the Jersey Shore Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Police K-9 units searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects, Pedersen said. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on this incident is being encouraged to call Detective McCarthy at 732-262-1169.
