A testament to months of work, fundraising and the generosity of the Brick community, the township’s Chamber of Commerce recently awarded $23,000 in scholarships to a number of deserving students.
The $23,000 was awarded to 16 students who are pursuing continuing education in a variety of disciplines. Seven awards were given to students pursuing specific careers and were made possible by a number of local businesses and individuals, including Barlo and Associates Architects, The Buckley Insurance Group, Crystal Point Yacht Club, FASTSIGNS of Brick, Richard and Lisa Lau, Dr. Fred Nirschl and Princeton Dental, and Encore Dental for the Anthony Emma Memorial Award.
Awards were open to adults continuing their educations, students currently enrolled in post-secondary education as well as graduating high school seniors.

The chamber’s Educational Foundation also celebrated an important milestone this year, as this year they exceeded $200,000 in scholarships awarded since the establishment of the scholarship awards program.
The current president of the Foundation, Lincoln O’Hare, owner of FASTSIGNS, said the foundation raises money in numerous ways – from the proceeds of their annual Dream Dollars raffle, which will soon be underway as well as additions to the Tree of Learning, which adorns the central hallway in the municipal building.
The scholarship awards were presented during a ceremony at Crystal Point Yacht Club.
