Beaches in several barrier island neighborhoods, including most of Normandy Beach, are closed to the public following the scouring of the township’s sea wall by waves from Tropical Storm Hermine.
Brick Police Capt. Vincent Pacitti said the access points to the ocean beaches south of Brick Beach III are now closed due to unsafe conditions.
“The public may gain access to the beaches at Brick Beach I, Brick Beach III and 6th Avenue,” he said.
Caution must be exercised while on the beaches due to the beach restoration project currently ongoing by the township, said Pacitti, since heavy equipment will be on the beaches pushing sand.
Caution must also be exercised, Pacitti said, while on the beaches during the time of high tide since waves will reach the steel revetment wall.
