A tropical storm watch has been issued for the entire length of the New Jersey coast as Hurricane Hermine is forecast to affect the area this weekend.
The latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center, release at 5 p.m., has moved the track of the storm slightly east, meaning it will be a bit farther away from New Jersey, but the storm is also expected to stall off the coast, leading to a longer period of foul weather and, conceivably, more rain.

Hermine is predicted to be a “post-tropical” system by the time it reaches New Jersey, but will still pack sustained winds of about 60 m.p.h., the NHC predicted in its latest outlook.
According to the Tropical Storm Watch Statement issued by the National Weather Service, the storm is expected to begin affecting the region Saturday and remain off the coast for the length of the holiday weekend. The statement said tidal flooding impacts are likely, though at the moment, storm surge impacts will be “little.”
