Homes Now Inc., a Brick Township-based nonprofit company that provides affordable housing to the elderly and disabled, was recently recognized for its Beachview property, an affordable senior residence in Atlantic City.
Set back about 200 feet from the boardwalk, the Beachview Residence is the result of Homes Now’s efforts to revitalize an aging, high-rise nursing home. The renovated property was reconstructed to promote modern aesthetics while also being LEED-certified, meaning its energy footprint is minimal. The residence offers 58 affordable housing units for seniors 55 years and older with 15 of the 58 units set aside for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities.
Homes Now, along with RPM Development, recently received the 2016 Governor’s Excellence in Housing Award in the housing revitalization category for their work on the Beachview Residence. The award was accepted by Carol A. Wolfe, founder and CEO of Homes Now. This particular award recognizes achievement in affordable housing projects that demonstrate revitalization or development of a distressed or blighted neighborhood while including an affordable housing component.

Funding for the project was made possible by Homes Now, Inc. receiving Low Income Housing Tax Credits; Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery funding from the Fund of Restoration of Multifamily Housing; NJHMFA Special Needs Housing Trust Funds; and construction financing from Wells Fargo.
“Homes Now, Inc. would like to thank the 2016 Governor’s Excellence in Housing and Economic Development Awards Committee for selecting the Beachview Residence as the recipient of this award,” a statement from the group said. “We are extremely proud of Beachview and wish the residents many years of happiness and enjoyment in their beautiful beachside homes.”
