The food concessionaire at Brick Beach III, the township’s largest public ocean beach, has dissolved the company, leaving Brick officials to begin the search for a new operator of the beach’s snack stand.
The concessionaire closed up shop because of a combination of startup costs, equipment costs and the potential for beach replenishment to affect sales this season, said Council President Art Halloran.
Township officials are now accepting bids from companies capable of operating the concession stand. It is not believed that beach replenishment – if it even takes place in Brick this summer at all – would have significant effect because beaches are closed only about 1,000 feet at a time, and the maximum closure time would be about three days.
The township is offering a contract that includes the 2017, 2018 and 2019 summer seasons, Halloran said.
