As Traders Cove Marina becomes more popular with local boaters, one area of the market served by the facility is doing especially well.
Township Administrator Joanne Bergin said Brick officials would add another six jet-ski slip to the marina this summer and investigate how to fit more into the facility, given the demand.
“We sold out of them and we have a waiting list,” said Bergin. “We figured that we may as well invest in a some new ones.”
The jet-ski slips are sold for $1,000 per season, meaning the new slips will generate $6,000 each year, forever.
“I would really like to see you spend more on this because it’s a one-time cost,” said resident George Scott, telling council members he spoke with the manager of the marina and said at least 40 people would like to keep their watercrafts there. “He said he could rent out another 40 of them and, probably, still have a waiting list. This is continuous revenue.”
The marina also offers traditional slips for full-size boats and a kayak rack where paddlers can store their vessels.
