Ocean County College’s Governmental Affairs Institute will present a Substance Abuse Summit: “Prevention & Recovery,” to help combat the area’s drug crisis. Admission is free.
Panelists include writer Alicia Cook, who lost her cousin to an overdose in 2006. Cook created a writing series entitled “The Other Side of Addiction.” Other panelists include Ocean County Police Chiefs and Superior Officers, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato, Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy, Congressman Tom MacArthur, representatives from substance abuse/rehabilitation organizations, people in recovery from addiction, and family members of people who succumbed to addiction.
The summit will be held Tuesday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Gateway Building Lecture Hall (Bldg #101) on Ocean County College’s Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River, NJ
