Brick Police Searching for Hit and Run Driver

The Brick Township Police Traffic Safety Unit is seeking help from the public as they continue to investigate a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash which occurred on May 20 at the intersection of Cedar Bridge Avenue and Hooper Avenue.

The accident occurred at 9:04 p.m. that night, police said Tuesday. The suspect vehicle, a silver or white Jeep Wrangler, fled the scene east on Mantoloking Road after striking a pedestrian who was crossing the road. The vehicle was last seen in the area of Vanada Drive.



Surveillance video of the possible suspect vehicle was obtained from the Mantoloking Bridge which showing a Jeep crossing into Mantoloking Borough a short time after the crash, police said. The Ocean County Prosecutors Office is examining the images in an attempt to obtain a vehicle registration.

The Traffic Safety Unit is asking the public for assistance in locating this vehicle. Anyone who knows of a white or silver Jeep Wrangler in their area and observed new damage to it, is being asked to call police. Damage may be minor and may be to the front and or either side, of the vehicle.
