Brick Councilwoman Marianna Pontoriero is inviting residents to town hall at 5 p.m. Tuesday night to discuss her recovery from cancer.
“I am willing to share updates in my cancer recovery due to the amount of requests from citizens,” Pontoriero told Shorebeat Tuesday.
The councilwoman announced earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with head-and-neck cancer. After having surgery and continuing radiation treatments, she returned to her seat at the dais for a recent council meeting, jubilantly announcing she had beaten the rare and deadly disease.

“I believe that this will bring hope to others,” she said, adding that she will share her “new look” tonight.
Pontoriero, who works as an attorney with an office in Brick, has said she plans on sharing her story so she can help others who are facing cancer, and is planning to develop programs in town that can support those in treatment and recovery.
