Brick officials this week decided to solicit and accept bids on several vehicles in order to keep the township’s fleet up to date.
The township council voted to solicit bids on a single axle cab and chassis tow truck, as well as a brush and limb loader with grapple arm. The township will purchase the equipment after the bids are returned.
Councilman James Fozman said the purchase will lead to a more efficient department.
“It’s going to save on manpower since the grappling hook can go out and grab a branch,” Fozman said.
A contract was awarded for a separate vehicle this week. Brick will purchase a Ford F-550 4WD pickup truck with dump body, plus a snowplow package for $118,617 through a national government purchasing cooperative.
The truck will include a salt spreader and liquid calcium speed control dispersal unit.
