A safe and fun hangout for Brick Township teens is set to open this week.
The center, which was announced earlier this year, will be known as Lounge 270, located in Civic Plaza on Chambers Bridge Road. Lounge 270 will officially open Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony from 6-8 p.m. There will also be bands, food, a rock wall and tours.
Lounge 270 (named for the center’s address at 270 Chambers Bridge Road) is being funded through a $25,000 grant the township received. A portion of Civic Plaza has been renovated in order to accommodate the new facility, which will feature a music recording studio, computer stations, workstations, bean bag chairs, pool tables, gaming systems and more.

Mayor John Ducey has said the center came about after he formed a Teen Advisory Committee after he was first elected mayor. Members of the committee helped decorate and design the space.
Additional information on Lounge 270, and its hours and planned activities will be announced at the grand opening.
