Brick Township’s annual “trunk or treat” event has grown so large that officials are asking the community to donate candy for the kids involved to enjoy.
Brick will host its annual Halloween Spooktacular and Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Drum Point Sports Complex. Residents are invited to participate by bringing their car, truck or van to the complex, decorating them and handing out treats.
“This event is extremely popular with the kids and the trunk decorating contest has really become creative and competitive,” said Mayor John Ducey.

There are still openings for individuals, groups and businesses who would like to display a Halloween themed trunk and hand out treats to “trunk or treaters”. The Recreation Department is also seeking donations of candy to be given out. Any person or organization that would like to decorate their vehicle or donate candy for the event can call 732-262-1073. Candy can also be dropped off at the Recreation Office, 270 Chambers Bridge Road or at schools participating in the candy competition (Osbornville, Midstreams, Lanes Mill, Drum Point, Warren H. Wolf, Herbertsville, Veterans Elementary, Veterans Middle, Brick Memorial H.S. & Brick Township H.S.).
In addition to the Trunk or Treat, there will be a hayride and costume parade. Trophies will be awarded for best decorated vehicles and costumes.
The event is free and open to Brick Township residents only. Costumes are required to trunk or treat. Pre-registration is required for all trunks and for the costume parade. For more information or to register please call the Brick Recreation office at 732-262-1073. The rain date for the event is Friday, October 27.
