The Herbertsville section of Brick, along with adjacent areas, is experiencing power outages and low voltage “brownout” conditions.
The outage first occurred at about 3:30 p.m. In some areas, power returned – but only partially, with lights appearing dim and some devices not having enough power to operate.
A pole that had snapped over the summer at Bluff View and Point View roads was being removed around the same time as the outage began, but it is not known if that is connected to the larger problem, which has caused traffic lights to go out at the busy intersections of Herbertsville and Thiele roads, and Herbertsville and Sally Ike roads.
A member of a work crew said JCP&L officials hope to have power restored by 6 p.m.
