Cedar Bridge Avenue in Lakewood will undergo an improvement project aimed at making the busy roadway safer, county officials announced this week.
The roadway, which was recently cited as one of the area’s most dangerous by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, will receive traffic light upgrades, safety islands in the center of the road, pedestrian improvements and a bike lane.
The work will be completed between Vine Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive, County Engineer John Ernst said. A new traffic light will be placed at the Vine intersection under the plan.
“It’s a project that will improve the safety for the pedestrians as well as the motoring public,” said Ernst.
The county must still put the project out to bid and select a contractor.
