Snow Forecast Increased: 2-4 Inches for Shore This Weekend

Meteorologists have upped the amount of snow forecast to fall on the Shore area Saturday night.

The National Weather Service’s office in Mount Holly said new forecast models show a bit more snow will fall than the trace accumulation initially expected. The forecast for northern Ocean County shows 2-4 inches of snow will fall.

Specifically, the forecast said, there will be a chance of rain after 5 p.m. Saturday, which will turn to snow. There will be rain and snow, possibly mixed with sleet before 3 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow between 3-4 a.m., then a chance of rain after 4 a.m.. The snow could be heavy at times, with an overnight low around 31 degrees.

The melt will begin very quickly. Sunday is forecast to be sunny with a high of 48 degrees. Rain is expected to return Monday afternoon as part of a warm front that will bring temperatures in the mid to high 60s next week.
