A Brick resident is leading a cleanup of an area that borders Forge Pond near the Brick branch of the Ocean County Library this Sunday.
“[I] observed an obnoxious amount of plastic bottles and other garbage in the woods and headwaters of the Metedeconk River,” said John Zingis, who is organizing the cleanup.
Anyone who wishes to volunteer to help clean up the area can park at the library (it is closed on Sundays, so parking will not be an issue, Zingis said) and “come as your are.”
Good boots and waterproof gloves are suggested. The group will work from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and have a post-cleanup meal at Applebees afterward.
Zingis said he would provide garbage bags and tarps. RSVP is suggested but not required. Those interested can see Zingis’ Facebook group, Friends of Forge Pond.
