An early-morning crash sent one man to an area hospital after he lost control of his vehicle on a Brick Township street, police said.
William Burdge, 47, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado pickup on Cherry Quay Road at about 2:01 a.m. when he veered left off of the roadway, cutting across the lawn of one house and landing in the front yard of another, police said. Burdge struck trees in the front yard of 301 Cherry Quay Road which caused the truck to overturn, Ptl. Scott Dierking said. He was able to exit the vehicle on his own, and police found him sitting near the truck when they arrived.
Burdge was subsequently transported by Brick Township Police EMS and MONOC paramedics to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Ptl. Riccio was first arriving unit on the scene, followed by several other officers who directed traffic. The crash caused a two-hour detour while an investigation was taking place, Dierking said.
