Two local residents suffered serious injuries in an accident that occurred early Saturday morning.

The 7:48 a.m. accident near the intersection of Jack Martin Boulevard and Frank Neri Drive as the driver of a 2004 Honda Civic, Kristen Petrolino, 18, of Point Pleasant Borough, collided with a 2002 Ford F-350 pickup truck as Petrolino pulled out of a parking lot, said Brick Police Ptl. Scott Dierking.

According to a police report, Petrolino pulled out into the path of the truck, which was being driven by Brad Hagaman, 52, of Brick. Hagaman “did not have time to react” to the car in his pathway, Dierking said.

The Honda skidded to a stop in front of 450 Jack Martin Boulevard while the pickup truck spun out of control, striking a fence and trees within the same parking lot before coming to a stop.

Petrolino had to be extricated from her vehicle by members of the Laurelton Fire Company, police said. She suffered serious internal injuries and was brought by ambulance to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Hagaman suffered cuts and bruises and was transported to Ocean Medical Center. A passenger in the pickup, Amanda Dapice, 22, of Point Pleasant Borough, was not injured.
