Brick’s Democratic and Republican organizations both elected municipal chairs and vice-chairs this week, party officials said.
A highly-publicized contest between Mayor John Ducey and Councilman Jim Fozman ended with Ducey emerging as the winner and new municipal chair. Robyn Gedrich, a recent appointee to the Brick Township Housing Authority board, will serve as vice-chair.
On the GOP side, two former council members will become leaders of their party. Brian DeLuca and Ruthanne Scaturro, who both served on council, were elected chair and vice-chair, respectively.
The Republican chairmanship selection went “very smoothly and without opposition,” said Republican Club President John Catalano, surely a nod toward the Democrats’ contested race. “We are one united committee looking to do the best for Brick Township.”
Ducey, who spoke to Shorebeat before the selection, said he plans on making the Democratic organization more visible in town and more active in community service events.
