An accident in Brick Township Friday night sent two employees of a Chinese restaurant to the hospital with serious injuries after a driver plowed into the building after losing control of his car.
According to Brick Police Sgt. Scott Dierking, Emil Medina, 36, of Point Pleasant, was in the parking lot of 2132 Route 88, the Lo’s Garden restautant, attempting to back out of a parking space. The crash, which occurred at 10:48 p.m., apparently came after Medina lost control of his 2014 Mazda6 and plowed into the restaurant.
Two employees of the restaurant, Binxin Zhan, 24, of Brick, and Min Lin, 24, of Brick, were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with cuts and leg pain. Dierking described their injuries as “serious,” saying they were thrown into the kitchen after being struck.

Dierking said it appears neither alcohol, drugs nor the use of a mobile phone appeared to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation. Initially, police believe the driver may have simply mistakenly put his car in “drive” when he meant to put it in reverse.
