Brick will construct a new building behind the municipal complex that will serve as a special operations building for the police department as well as a base for the township’s EMS service.
Brick secured approval from the Ocean County Utilities Authority to construct the building on a plot of land on which the county holds easements. OCUA, Mayor John Ducey said, granted the township permission to build certain features on the land. Crews will construct curbing, a potable water line, plus gas and electrical lines to the structure. Communication lines will also run to the building.
The building will “house ambulances and other equipment,” Ducey said. “OCUA has approved the request to construct the building in their easement.”

The township has not gone out to bid on the project. Before construction, the township must solicit bids, award a contract and plan a work schedule.
