Brick officials have planned a symposium to help victims of the Aug. 13 flood through the process of rebuilding their homes, avoiding fraudulent activities and applying for financial assistance.
“Over the past several years Brick Township Police has gained experience in responding to the initial threat of the storm and the aftermath and cleanup which followed,” a statement from the Brick police department said. “Unfortunately, this included criminal behavior from individuals and contractors looking to prey upon the victims who had already lost so much.”
The symposium is open to all Brick Township residents affected and will be held at the Greenbriar I clubhouse, 1 Darley Circle, Brick, on Wed., Aug. 22, 2018 at 10 a.m.
Speakers will include Dan Bryan from the office of Gov. Phil Murphy, Detective Michael Bevacqua from the Brick Township Police Department, Ed McBride from the Ocean County Consumer Affairs Office and two charities – Compass 82 and Habitat for Humanity.
