Police have charged a Brick man with driving while intoxicated after he was found asleep behind the wheel of his car at a Wawa in a neighboring town.

Lacey Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said Paul V. Hikade, 53, of Gardenia Drive in Brick, was found by two officers who were called to the convenience store on Route 9 for a report of a man sleeping behind the wheel of his car which was parked in the lot.

He received motor vehicle summonses for DWI, refusing to submit to a breath test, and having an open container in a motor vehicle. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law, DiBella said.
