Brick police officers located a trespasser who had staked out a hiding place near a residential home in the township’s Herbertsville section Sunday morning.

Police were called to a residence on Hardean Road at about 1 a.m. for a report of someone being present in the caller’s backyard, Sgt. Jim Kelly said. The caller, a 21-year old female, saw a person’s shadow outside her bedroom window. Upon arrival, officers immediately canvassed the area, said Kelly.

In the wooded area behind the caller’s home, Officers Scott Mesmer and Joseph Riccio found a man crouching behind a tree. The man was identified as Ryan Hubbard, also of Hardean Road. Officers subsequently arrested Hubbard and charged him with criminal trespassing. He was released on a summons pending a court date.
