Police are continuing their investigation Sunday into an altercation inside a Brick Township bar that split into another altercation outside.

According to Sgt. Jim Kelly, officers were called to the Mantoloking Road Ale House just after 7 p.m. Saturday night for a report of a simple assault. When they arrived on scene, the officers observed a physical altercation between two men outside the establishment. An on-scene investigation revealed that the two men had “mutually engaged in the fight,” which had originated inside the establishment, Kelly said. Both men sustained minor injuries from the fight.

In a separate incident that occurred at the same time, a female victim – who was the original caller asking for a police response – was pulled down by her hair and bitten on the arm by another woman, said Kelly. The victim’s attacker was another female who was unknown to the victim, according to police. A description was provided to the officers for follow up investigation.
