Since the Civil War, Brick Township residents have been fighting for our country. Eighteen never returned home, and the township is planning a special ceremony to honor its fallen service members next month.

The township  will host “Brick’s Fallen Heroes” on April 27 at Windward Beach Park, starting at 11 a.m. The township will be unveiling banners in memory of each person who went off to war – from the Civil War to Operation Iraqi Freedom – and died in service to their country.

The idea to host the ceremony came from William J. Duffy, a member of Brick VFW Post No. 8867, who spent countless hours researching the wartime deaths of Brick residents.
