Brick police said they located the vehicle that was behind a hit-and-run accident Sunday night that resulted in the death of a township man. The victim was also identified.
According to Sgt. Keith Donnelly, Robert R. Berenger, 28, of Brick, lost his life during the incident, which occurred just before 11 p.m. Sunday night.
Police said Berenger was struck while walking, with his body found on the lawn of a residential home on Drum Point Road. The vehicle that hit him did not stop, according to authorities.

In an update provided to Shorebeat Monday afternoon, Donnelly said patrol units were advised of the updated information on the details of the suspect vehicle, and a short time later a green Dodge Ram van with significant damage, consistent with the crash, was located by Sgt. Joseph Rossi in a residential neighborhood off Drum Point Road.
Members of the Brick Township Police Traffic Safety Unit and Patrol Division located the vehicle owner, identified as Craig W. Menth Jr., 37, of Barnegat. Menth was arrested and charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a fatal accident, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash, failure to report an accident and careless driving.
Menth was not listed as an inmate at the Ocean County Jail and his photograph was not available.
Family members of the victim who reside out of state were notified of the incident and arrest, police said.
