A traffic stop during the patrol of a troubled condominium complex in northern Brick Township yielded the arrest of a suspect on charges of distribution of cocaine and marijuana.

Detective Ryan Talty was conducting an area check in the Briar Mills complex on Wednesday when he “observed suspicious activity involving a subject operating a motor vehicle,” said Capt. Keith Reinhard.

Talty, with the assistance of Detective Jeff Person, conducted a motor vehicle stop on the suspect vehicle in the area of Herbertsville Road and Sally Ike Road. Shortly thereafter, Sgt. Paul Catalina and his K9 partner Duke responded to the motor vehicle stop and performed a K9 sniff. K9 Duke provided a positive indication to drugs being inside the vehicle, Reinhard said.

A search of the vehicle turned up a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine, and a jar containing green vegetative matter believed to be marijuana. These items, along with $429 in cash, were seized by the detectives.

Michael Mylet, 64, of Howell, was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana, as well as simple possession of each.

No photo of Mylet was available.
