A balmy, but rainy, day on Tuesday will give way to plummeting temperatures and a brief changeover to snow overnight into Wednesday, though accumulations in the Shore are will be minimal.
While some areas of North Jersey may receive about two inches of snow, the Shore was spared from the Winter Weather Advisory issued in other parts of the Garden State. There are no watches or warnings associated with the overnight precipitation. According to the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, rain will pick up after 9 p.m. Tuesday night and will eventually turn to snow as the back end of a cold front moves through the region.
The snow will accumulate between a quarter and half of an inch locally overnight and end by 11 a.m. Wednesday, when an additional half-inch or less will accumulate. In all, expect accumulations of about a half-inch to an inch. Roads are expected to be “slushy” during the Wednesday morning commute, the NWS forecast said. The temperature will dip down to 32 overnight, rise to just 39 on Wednesday before falling into the low 20s Wednesday night. The sun will return on Thursday.
