Brick Township’s longtime president of the Zoning Board of Adjustment announced that he is stepping down from his post as of Jan. 31 in order to become a commissioner at the Brick Township Municipal Utilities Authority.
Harvey Langer has served multiple stints on the zoning board, usually as its president. He is known for a quick whit, often adding some lighthearted banter to otherwise dry meetings that delve into the intricacies of New Jersey municipal land use law.
In that fashion he proclaimed at Wednesday night’s zoning board meeting, his last: “Any zoning problems, not I! Water or sewer problems? Call me.”

Langer was presented with a certificate from the board honoring his years of service.
At a township council meeting Tuesday night, Langer was appointed to the MUA post along with former councilwoman Susan Lydecker, Michael Blandina, Derrick Ambrosino, and Erin Wheeler, who were also appointed to terms on the MUA board.
As for the zoning board, current member Michele Strassheim will be moved from an alternate member position to a full board member. The alternate position will be filled by Darren Caffrey. The zoning board will name a new chairperson at its next meeting.
