A Lakewood man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for heroin distribution, according to prosecutors.
Tony Olden, 33, was sentenced Friday by Superior Court Judge Rochelle Gizinski following his guilty plea of possession of more than a half-ounce of heroin with intent to distribute. He received a concurrent sentence of five years for illegal possession of a weapon.
The charges arose out of a three-month long investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force and Lakewood Police Department Street Crimes Unit. Due to that investigation, detectives stopped a vehicle being driven by Olden on Aug. 6, 2019 and recovered a “substantial amount of heroin as well as a handgun,” prosecutors said.
That same day, detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in Lakewood which yielded additional “significant” amounts of heroin.
Olden had already been serving a sentence in state prison on separate charges when his new sentence was handed down.
