Brick is continuing to crack down on abandoned homes, with the township council authorizing the solicitation of bids to demolish two structures that have fallen into disrepair.
Before a property is recommended for demolition, it is investigated by code enforcement and the owner – usually, but not always – a bank will have the opportunity to appear before the Property Maintenance Board and solve issues than range from safety, to damage being caused to neighboring homes, to animal infestation.
The two homes that were ordered to be demolished at Tuesday night’s council meeting are located at: 472 Irisado Drive and 250 Riverside Drive North.
Both properties were involved in tax sale or foreclosure proceedings, county records showed.
The property owners will have a chance to appeal the council’s decision, and the township must receive and accept bids before an order to demolish is approved.
