Brick police have charged a township woman in a stabbing that occurred in the Maple Leaf Park condominium complex April 12, police said in a statement Tuesday.
According to Sgt. Jim Kelly, police were called to 195 Sawmill Road at 2:30 a.m. for a report of a fight.
The fight, which was between three neighbors, resulted in two females being cut with a knife, Kelly said. One of the suspects, later identified as Candace Haynes, 38, of Brick, “was found to have caused injury to both victims using a knife,” the statement said. The first victim sustained a stab wound to her neck, and the second victim sustained a laceration to her forearm, according to police.

She was subsequently transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for further treatment, though police said the wound was not life threatening. Brick Police EMS treated the second victim for lacerations to her arm at the scene.
Detective Brian Farnkopf, who arrived to assist in the investigation, reviewed surveillance footage from the area which led to the arrest of Haynes for the assault.
Haynes was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
There was no record of Haynes being an inmate at the Ocean County Jail. A photo was not released.
