Some Brick residents may not realize that the township has a growing fox population, especially on the barrier island and near the marshy areas in the eastern sections of town. As it sometimes happens, animals find themselves stuck with man-made problems – but in Brick, they were able to get some help.
Laurelton Veterinary Hospital posted a video on social media Thursday showing two baby foxes stuck in a storm drain. The veterinary office did not announce the street, but said Brick Township Public Works and members of the Road Division immediately came to help when called.
“They spent a lot of time here trying to figure out the best way to get them back to their mom safely,” the office said in its post.
The fox family had apparently been separated over the course of two days, but all ended well after township officials arrived.
“We are happy to report after the amazing men from the Road Dept came this morning to lift the grate and climb in to check that babies are out!” the post said. “They are safe with their mom and we cannot wait to see her with them walking in the woods again.”
