A woman accused of murdering her wife with a wine chiller has been extradited back to New Jersey after being captured out of state, prosecutors said.
Mayra Gavilanez-Alectus, 48, of Brick, was extradited to Ocean County Tuesday to face charges in the murder of Rebecca Gavilanez-Alectus, 32, of Brick, to whom she was married. A police report said Mayra Gavilanez-Alectus allegedly killed her victim using a wine chiller device, reportedly over a domestic dispute that may have involved a potential divorce.
A warrant for the arrest of Mayra Gavilanez-Alectus was issued May 18. The killing occurred at an apartment on Creek Road, located behind the Maple Leaf Park complex.
