Brick Township’s first Summerfest of the season, rescheduled from July, has been formally canceled.
Township officials made the announcement Wednesday, a week and a day before the event was scheduled to take place.
“We’re hoping for an increase with the rest,” Mayor John Ducey said Wednesday, referring to the state’s policies on outdoor gatherings amidst the coronavirus outbreak. The current limit for outdoor events is 500 people; Summerfest regularly draws between 4,000 and 5,000 revelers – and occasionally more.
