Preparation is often the smart choice in government, even if it comes with a side of seasonal irony.
On a day when temperatures neared triple-digits, Brick township council members approved a new agreement for road salt that will be applied during winter snow and ice storms. The governing body awarded a contract to Atlantic Salt, of Lowell, Mass. for an amount not to exceed $200,000 over three years. The contract was awarded through a cooperative with Stafford Township.
Council President Lisa Crate said over the last two years, Brick spent $117,000 on road salt.
