A two-vehicle accident injured four people, some seriously, and shut down traffic on Herbertsville Road outside St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Sunday night.

According to Brick Police Sgt. Keith Donnelly, the 7:50 p.m. crash involved a 2017 Buick Envision being driven by Lisa DeFeo-Ester, 38, of Somerset, and a 2018 Toyota Camry being driven by Kassandra Diaz-Torres, 22, of Howell.

A police report said the Buick turned left from the parking lot of the church in front of the Toyota, which was traveling south on Herbertsville Road and had the right of way. Three occupants of the Toyota and the driver of the Toyota were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by Brick Police EMS, Point Boro First Aid Squad, and paramedics from Hackensack-Meridian Health. The roadway was closed and traffic was detoured for approximately two hours during the investigation.
