A Brick Township man lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Brick Boulevard over the weekend, police said.

According to a police report, Ronald Tucci, 70, died after his 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle was involved in an accident with a 2018 Honda Accord being driven by Daina Massarelli, 30, of East Hanover.

The report said the accident occurred Saturday at 3:36 p.m. on Brick Boulevard, approximately 300 feet south of the Beaverson Boulevard intersection. The Honda was traveling north on Brick Boulevard and in the Beaverson Boulevard left turn lane. The motorcycle was traveling north on Brick Boulevard in the outside lane a distance behind the Honda. As the motorcycle was changing lanes to the left to overpass a vehicle of front him, the Honda was changing lanes to the right to continue straight on Brick Boulevard northbound. Tucci, driving the motorcycle, attempted to brake to avoid the collision, however his bike impacted the right rear area of the Honda. As a result of the crash, Tucci was thrown from the motorcycle, the report said.

The Brick Township Police Department’s Patrol Units and Emergency Medical Services along with Robert Wood Johnson paramedics responded to the scene. Tucci, who suffered lower body and internal injuries, was treated at the scene and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, where he succumbed to his injuries. Massarelli and a single passenger were not injured.

The Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit responded to the scene to investigate the crash, and vehicular traffic on Brick Boulevard northbound was detoured around the crash scene for approximately five hours during the investigation.
