Brick Township council members this week are expected to approve an ordinance that will help motorists locate medical buildings along the Route 88 corridor, adjacent to Ocean Medical Center.
Two weeks ago, the council unanimously introduced the ordinance which would allow more signage to be placed along the highway in order to better guide patients to their doctors’ offices.
“Currently, the ordinance restricts signs from being located in the front setback area,” said Council President Lisa Crate. “This ordinance changes that to allow signs within the setback so motorists can see them as they approach.”

Under the ordinance, buildings in the Hospital Support Zone will be permitted one freestanding sign per lot “for purposes of identifying the property address.” The signs will be limited to 15 square feet in area and must be at least 10 feet away from the roadway itself.
