A Brick Township man has been charged with drug distribution after a traffic stop yielded quantities of crack cocaine, packaging materials and more, police said Thursday.
The stop was initiated by members of the Brick Township Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit on Nov. 12 in the area of Fairfield Avenue and Lynwood Avenue.
According to Sgt. Jim Kelly, the passenger in the vehicle, Demetrius Baynard, 28, of Brick, was found with approximately 11 grams of crack cocaine packaged for resale, a digital scale, six Xanax pills, and $570 in assorted bills.
Baynard was arrested and charged with possession of crack, possession of Xanax, possession of crack with the intent to distribute, possession of Xanax with the intent to distribute, and possession of paraphernalia. His charges were issued on a warrant and he was lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
The driver of the vehicle was issued a warning for the motor vehicle violations.
The SCU was assisted by Officer Chris Newlund of the Patrol Division, Kelly said.
