The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Ocean County from 6 p.m. Wednesday night to 7 a.m. Thursday morning.
According to the advisory, northeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
“Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects,” the advisory said. “Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.”

The wind advisory is coupled with a coastal flood warning that will remain in effect until 3 p.m. Thursday, all part of a nor’easter that is expected to move through the region over the two days. While many portions of New Jersey will experience significant snowfall totals, the Shore area will see mostly rain, and accumulations won’t likely amount to more than 1-2 inches, according to the latest forecast.
A rain-snow mix will move in around 3 p.m. Wednesday, then a combination of rain, snow, and sleet between by 10 p.m., followed by another period rain after 10 p.m. The precipitation will change to snow at some point overnight, though less than a inch of accumulation is expected during the final portion of the storm.
