Anglers hoping to get close to the action during this year’s fall run can take the first step by purchasing a beach buggy permit for Brick Beach I. The permit allows a four-wheel drive vehicle to be driven on the beach for the purpose of fishing.

Vehicles are allowed, with permits, on the sand between Oct. 1 and April 30. For several years, permits were not issued due to safety concerns over the size of the beach, plus ongoing replenishment efforts. Now that the beach has been rebuilt, the permits can be issued again.

Beach access is available at Brick Beach I (the northernmost township beach, approximately across from Used to Be’s) only. All vehicles are subject to an inspection by the Brick Township Police Department before a permit is approved. Inspections will be conducted at the municipal building. The inspection schedule is posted on the township’s website.
