This week, Toms River officials said crews demolishing the former Joey Harrison’s Surf Club property got a bit more than they bargained for when knocking down the iconic Shore nightspot.
Several tons of concrete that was left over from a previous portion of the club that was destroyed during the 1992 ‘Christmas Storm’ and then largely forgotten about, were exposed. Initially, the find was made by ground-penetrating radar, then confirmed by heavy equipment operators.
Here’s what’s left of this relic of decades not-quite-so past, and perhaps a final view of the terminal vestiges of a place where so many great memories were made.
