The National Weather Service has issued its second winter weather advisory of the week for Ocean County, this time calling for 2-4 inches of snow to fall in the region overnight and into Friday morning.
The advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday for all of central and southern New Jersey as well as Delaware.
“A narrow band of heavy snow may result in a brief period of snow rates up to 2 inches per hour late overnight and locally higher snow totals, though where this band may set up is uncertain,” the advisory statement from the NWS office in Mount Holly said. “Windy conditions are expected after most of the snow occurs, which could result in lingering impacts due to blowing snow into Friday afternoon.”

The NWS forecast calls for the precipitation to begin as rain Thursday night and change to all snow by 4 a.m. The overnight period will produce 1-3 inches of snow. The flakes will continue to fall Friday morning, producing another 1-2 inches. The overnight low will be 31 degrees while the daytime high Friday is forecast to be 35 degrees.
The snow is expected to move out of the region by 11 a.m. Friday, giving way to clouds and potentially some breaks of clearing by the evening. The storm is part of a cold front that will plunge lows Friday night down to 21 degrees. Ocean County is barely forecast to break the freezing mark on Saturday, with a forecast high of 33.
