The mercury may be struggling to rise above freezing, but Brick officials have summer on their minds.
The township council on Tuesday night began soliciting bids for this year’s annual Summerfest series at Windward Beach – weekly gatherings that feature a concert, fireworks display, plus food, a beer/wine garden and more. In keeping with recent tradition, Summerfest will run the four Thursdays from June 30 to July 21, with rain dates scheduled later.
This year’s concert lineup includes:
June 30: Super Trans Am (’70s Concert Experience)
July 7: Stiffler’s Mom (’90s Hits)
July 14: The Benjamins (Current Hits, ’90s)
July 21: Jessie’s Girl (’80s Hits)
The council also voted to solicit bids for the contract for fireworks at each of the four Summerfest events, plus the Fall Fest celebration. Last year, the township awarded a $22,000 contract to Schaefer Fireworks. Summerfest is funded through corporate sponsorships as well as various tourism grants.
