Ocean County was under a severe thunderstorm watch as a line of strong weather associated with a cold front approached the region, the National Weather Service said.
The watch lasts through 11 p.m. Monday night. A wind advisory is in effect until 2 a.m. Tuesday.
“A strong cold front accompanied by a line of showers and isolated thunderstorms will move across our region this evening,” the watch statement said. “The showers and isolated thunderstorms may bring brief wind gusts near 60 m.p.h.”
Skies should begin clearing after the line of storms moves through, the NWS forecast states. On Tuesday, the agency calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 47 and northwest wind 10 to 15 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 25 m.p.h.
