It’s halfway to St. Patrick’s Day, and in Seaside Park, the people who bring you one of New Jersey’s largest St. Patrick’s Day parade are already in the spirit.
The event at the Seaside Park Marina, Shamrocks by the Sea, raises funds for the following year’s parade. It also celebrates Irish heritage, with bands, crafters, authentic Irish clothing and tasty varieties of beer imported from the Emerald Isle.
Shamrocks by the Sea also served as a platform for several veterans organizations to get the word out about their missions, including the locally based Ma Deuce Deuce, which served as a sponsor. The event ended with a tribute to the American armed services, with a bagpipe rendition of each service’s fight song and some patriotic tunes.
