The Shore area will get a break from nearly four days of foul weather Monday with sunshine dominating the skies for a few hours before another storm system moves in.
The weekend coastal storm spared some of the worst wind meteorologists had predicted, but seas ran high and beach erosion could be seen up and down the coastline on Ocean County’s northern barrier island.
According to the National Weather Service, skies were set to clear overnight between Sunday and Monday, with Monday bringing sunshine and a high of 59 degrees to the region. But by Monday night, a chance of showers was forecast, mainly after 2 a.m. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 47 degrees. The showers will bring minimal rainfall totals.
A chance of showers on Tuesday will go along with mostly cloudy skies, with a high near 53, the NWS forecast said. Southwest wind 10 to 15 m.p.h. was predicted, with a chance of precipitation of 50 percent.
Chances of showers, with occasional breaks of sun and overcast skies, were forecast through Thursday. Highs this week will be in the mid-50s.
